Ready to live the Post-16

AS of September next year Dromore High School will be opening its doors to a new sixth-form intake, after Stormont Education minister Caitriona Ruane finally gave the nod to the school's longstanding plans for post-16 provision.

Principal Mr. John Wilkinson is on record saying the school is now ready to take to the post-16 stage, but in the months ahead its plans an preparations will be further developed to ensure the best possible provision.

Mr. Wilkinson hopes the addition of post-16 studies will in future mean that the majority of pupils who would previously have had no choice but to move on to other schools after completing their GCSEs, will choose to stay on at Dromore High.

According to a school spokesperson, "There is much excitement in the school about this extension to its current provision."
