Rebecca is thriving thanks to M&S

The seven year old has been diagnosed with a particular deletion on chromosome 16 and also suffers with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and a Channelopathy neurological disorder.

Rebecca’s condition means she has no awareness of danger or risk in her every day life, and with a particularly high pain threshold, requires supervision at all times. The new Safespace, worth over £5,500, provides a safe and comfortable environment for Rebecca where she can play and sleep without constant supervision.

Rebecca’s mum, Gemma Gurney said: “The Safespace has changed our lives, quite literally. Previously, Rebecca would only sleep for two or three hours at night, now for the first time in her life, she is sleeping right through. M&S has worked in partnership with the Newlife charity for the last seven years to recycle returned products. Tanya Magee, store manager at M&S Coleraine said: “We are honoured to be able to provide Rebecca with the Safespace which will create a more comfortable way of life for her.
