Rebecca reaches for the sky with hospice fundraiser

REBECCA McCrea, 19, has acknowledged the generous support of Larne people in helping her to raise £4,200 for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The Parkgate girl took her fundraising to new heights with a sponsored parachute jump last month.

Having originally set a £1,000 target, Rebecca reached for the sky and boosted the total with coffee mornings, a raffle and a charity collection.

Rebecca chose the charity in memory of her father, James, who was treated at the Northern Ireland Hospice prior to his death 14 years ago.

“The hospice provides an incredible service and I was delighted to be able to raise so much for the charity,” said the teenager, whose fundraising began in the spring.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for all the help they gave me,” said Rebecca, whose mother, Angela, is from Larne. “I want to thank all the many people in the Larne area who gave their support in any way,” she added.
