Receiver seeks to sell Laharna retail park

THE Laharna retail park has been put on the market, on the instructions of a receiver.

The 63,000sq ft mall is one of a number of assets belonging to major Northern Ireland property company Jermon Developments placed in receivership.

Agent Osborn King is inviting offers over 6.15 million for the complex where tenants including Argos, Peacocks, O2 and Menary’s contribute to an annual rental income of just over 500,000.

The Laharna park, which was purpose-built in 2003, is on a three-acre site with 191 parking spaces. It has been hailed as a major success story for retailing in Larne as it is adjacent to Lidl, with easy access to and from the traditional town centre and proximity to both the rail and bus stations.

Dungannon-based Jermon - founded by former pharmacist Peter Dolan in 1997 - has interests in offices and shopping centres in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Poland.

The BBC reported in June that Anglo-Irish Bank was understood to have appointed a receiver to three of the company's assets, including an office development in Belfast.

A bank appoints a receiver when it doubts a company’s ability to repay all of its debts and wants assets sold so that it can get its money back. The receiver also takes control of any rental income the properties are earning.

Anglo appointed a receiver on May 28, documents filed at Companies House detail.

The receivership applies to a small part of Jermon's portfolio and it retains control of most of it properties.

Laharna is being advertised as: “For sale on the instructions of Tom Keenan of Keenan CF acting as fixed receiver.”
