The Southern Health and Social Care Trust has launched its Staff Excellence Awards 2010.

This year, the Trust has introduced the People’s Choice Award to give members of the public the opportunity to pay tribute to health and social care workers who have made a difference to their lives.

Launching the 2010 Staff Excellence Awards, Non Executive Director for the Southern Trust, Roberta Brownlee said: “There are almost 13,000 people working in the Southern Trust; in hospitals, health centres or social services as well as support staff like clerical workers, drivers, domestics and porters. The Staff Excellence Awards are about giving recognition to those staff who go that extra mile in serving local people.”

The People’s Choice Award acknowledges those special Trust employees who have demonstrated to a patient, client or relative exceptional care. This might be great kindness, professional expertise, or expert care.

The closing date for nominations is 5pm on October 11. The overall winner will be announced in December.
