Record breaking GCSE year at Dominican

Almost 98% achieved five or more good GCSE passes, over 94% achieved seven or more good GCSE passes with 91 % achieving seven or more GCSEs including English and Mathematics and 84% achieving nine GCSEs or more.

These figures were up 8% on 2011 results.

Over one fifth of all the students achieved seven A grades or better with pride of place going to Siobhan Magee (8A* + 3A) and Christy McGuigan (6A* + 5A).

Eleanor Atcheson, Duncan Chapman, Aimee Doherty, Cara Jenvey and Kane Williams all had at least nine A grades or better.

Dr Bob Cummings, principal of Dominican College praised students, staff and parents for the 2012 GCSE achievements.

“The College had introduced a very focussed revision programme in 2012 for all its GCSE students and it was very pleasing to see so many students do so well,” he said.

Considering the broad range of students in the year group and personal difficulties which a number of them had faced, Dr Cummings described the Dominican GCSE results as outstanding.
