Record-breaking performances by St Mary’s pupils

Principal Deirdre McNally praised the efforts of students, staff and parents in bringing about the highest ever set of achievements at GCSE.

While there were some exceptional individual performances, it was the overall performance of the year group that has most pleased the principal Deirdre McNally and the staff. Nearly 75% of pupils achieved five or more GCSEs A*- C.

42% of pupils achieved five GCSEs A*- C including English and Maths. And 56% of these students achieved seven or more GCSE with two students achieving 10 A* - C grades.

These results are well above the NI average for similar schools.

“This is an absolutely superb set of results and clearly represents the tremendous effort and commitment by our students and staff over the past two years,” said Mrs McNally. “I congratulate the students on their marvellous achievements and take this opportunity to say how extremely proud of and pleased for them I am. They took advantage of extra-curricular classes on offer and have reaped the rewards of the hard work and dedication shown throughout their time in St Mary’s.
