Record crowds at Ballymoney High School Open Night

Mrs Currie, Principal, welcomed the huge crowd to the school and shared what she believed to be the core strengths of Ballymoney High School- Believing in each and every child, having High expectations for each and every child and striving to achieve Success for each and every child.

She also pointed out how this was a very exciting time for prospective pupils coming to the school with the £3.9 million school extension and further refurbishments underway and the real possibility of being able to offer sixth form provision for pupils at the school in the near future. Visitors were entertained by the Chamber Choir followed by the Head Boy, Jack Doak and Head Girl, Amy Gault interviewing a group of Year 8 pupils about their personal experiences of the school. Key messages from the pupils included how Ballymoney High School gave them opportunity to grow in confidence, to be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities, to make new friends, to receive help from understanding and supportive teachers and even according to one pupil opportunity to sample the delights of the noodle bar in the canteen!

Approximately 200 pupils from the school volunteered to assist their teachers in giving visitors opportunity to actively engage in various activities across the school. Visitors had opportunity to explore all subject areas and extra-curricular exhibits being encouraged to see, hear, do, taste, act and much more.

Mrs Currie said she was very encouraged by the very positive written and verbal feedback comments received on the evening from those present including those visiting the school for the first time and those with children currently at the school who expressed their very high satisfaction with the provision in the school and the positive learning experiences their children were gaining. Many were very interested to hear about and be part of future developments at the school.
