Recycle at work as well as at home

DURING this year’s Recycle Week which runs from Monday 18 until Sunday 24 June, Banbridge District Council is encouraging residents to concentrate their efforts on recycling at work as well as at home.

According to a recent survey, an individual is twice as likely to be greener at home than at work, yet he or she will spend a third of their life at work. So it’s important to adopt green practices at work too.

For example, you recycle food waste at home – so why not do the same at work. You switch your lights off at home when you leave a room - so there’s no reason why the lights in your office should remain on when you go out for lunch.

There are many simple things you can do to make your office a more environmentally-friendly workplace. For starters, you can recycle paper and printer cartridges, print double-sided, reuse envelopes, use a recycle bin for paper and all other mixed dry recyclables such as aluminium cans, plastic bottles and cartons.

Banbridge District Council provides a cost-effective, award-winning commercial waste recycling service to local businesses and would encourage those who don’t recycle at present to consider using this service. For further information, contact the Technical Services Department on 4066 0604.
