Rededication of First Lisburn

Easter Sunday saw the culmination of a year of hard work with the rededication of First Lisburn Presbyterian Church.

The church has undergone a massive refurbishment over the past year, with a new platform, pews, a refurbished organ and even a new coffee dock at the entrance.

On Easter Sunday evening the congregation welcomed the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Dr Michael Barry, and his wife Esther, to rededicate the church.

The special service also included the singing of a specially written anthem by composer Tim Knight. ‘I Was Glad’ was sung by the gathered choirs, including members of First Lisburn, Railway Street, St Patrick’s, St Mark’s and All Souls, under the baton of Director of Music Tom Whyte.

The Neuschel Brass Quintette played during the service, which was also attended by Minister Emeritus Dr Gordon Gray.

At the close of the service Clerk of Session Perry Reid shared the 325 year history of First Lisburn and expressed the appreciation of the congregation towards minister Rev John Brackenridge, who has driven forward the refurbishment project.
