“I would like to sincerely thank my predecessor Councillor Ronnie Crawford for his 25 years’ service to the people of Lisburn.”

He continued: “I would also like to thank my party leader Mike Nesbitt MLA for nominating me to this position.”

Mr Redpath says his priority remains the economic regeneration of Lisburn.

“I pledge to support the early devolution of parking charges to Lisburn City Council giving councillors the opportunity to strategically target reduced parking charges to help city centre traders,” he explained.

“I am also a firm supporter of the John Lewis development and when this project is delivered in Lisburn I will campaign to have all extra rates revenue ring-fenced. This extra revenue should be used to lower city centre parking charges and regenerate the city centre,” he commented.

Economic development of the Maze site is also a key priority for Lisburn says Mr Redpath.

. I am proud of the central role my party played in halting the glorification of terror at the Maze site.”
