Reece Wilson wins twice at Rockmount

The first medal stroke competition of the year was played on Sunday and Monday 13 and 14 April.

Reece Wilson, with a handicap of 13, completed the 18 holes in 83 for a nett score of two under par 70.

Ivor Johnston (16) and Vice Captain Ed Donaldson (07) both scored nett 71’s; Ivor took second place on countback.

On Saturday 19 April the Gents’ PGA Tankard was also won by Reece Wilson (13).

Reece scored a very good 40 points in the Stableford competition.

David Kirk (22) was second with 39 points.

The low section (0-11) was won by Henry Moore (08) with 38 points, the middle section (12-18) was won by Neill Dunlop (17) who also scored 38 points and the high section (19-28) was won with 36 points by Andrew McCorriston (25).

The best gross on the day went to Colin McClenaghan (01).

Colin completed the par 72 course in a one over par score of 73.

On Easter Sunday 20 April the Ulster Cup team headed to Dunfanaghy Golf Club for the second leg of their first round match.

Having won the first leg 6 – 1 ,the team forewent their Easter eggs for a good cause.

All that was needed was one match and a combined loss of no more than 16 holes in the other matches.

Ed McDonald’s slick team secured one and a half matches early on and the two team captains were able to call the remaining matches in early.

The Rockmount Ulster Cup team will progress to the second round to play either Greencastle Golf Club or Scrabo Golf Club.
