Remember Pitman shorthand?

The system, now overtaken by easier to learn methods, was considered one of the best at the time with speeds of 140 to 160 per minute regularly achieved by students.

Now, a local training provider would like to hear from any of readers who have studied with Pitman in the past - it may be here or in other parts of the UK or overseas.

It’s 175 years since Sir Isaac Pitman invented shorthand and to celebrate Pitman Training in Belfast are compiling a commemorative book of stories about people who went on to transform their lives and careers after ‘getting their Pitman’ or who have fond or interesting memories of Pitman.

The teller of the most interesting story will receive £250 cash and £1,000 training - which they or a loved one or friend can use.
