Remembering Downhill

MUSSENDEN Temple is Northern Ireland`s most iconic building and North Coast residents are rightly proud of it. But sadly, Downhill, the great mansion associated with the Temple, has long been a forlorn ruin.

However Castlerock Community Association is hoping to rebuild Downhill, not from bricks and mortar but with photographs and memories.

As the first stage in a project tobring this fine example of 18th century architecture back to life, anyone with an interest in Downhill is invited to a specialpresentation of pcitures showing this fine property in its heyday.

The presentation will be held in Castlerock`s Peter Thompson Main Hall on Saturday, October 9 at 2 pm.

Anyone who remembers anything about the house will be invited to chat informally to researchers afterwards.

Perhaps you had a relative who worked at Downhill, or perhaps you remember the house before it was part-demolished in the 1980s?

If so CastlerockCommunity Associationwould love to hear from you. Or if you just want to come along and enjoy an interesting afternoon, you will be most welcome.
