Remembrance services at Mid and East Antrim cenotaphs

Mayor Councillor Billy Ashe is attending the Carrickfergus event and will be represented by elected representatives elsewhere.

The Festival of Remembrance in Ballycarry will take place on November 6 at 7pm with a wreath laying ceremony at the village green War Memorial. This will be followed at 7.45pm by a Festival of Remembrance in Ballycarry Community Centre.

Carrickfergus’ service will take place at the War Memorial at 10.45am on November 8 and will be attended by the Mayor and council Chief Executive Anne Donaghy. In Whitehead, marchers will depart from the community centre on Balmoral Avenue at 10.40am on November 8, with the service beginning at the War Memorial at 11am led by Rev Mark Taylor. A further service will be held at Whitehead Cenotaph at 11am on November 11.

In Larne, the parade on November 8 leaves the Royal British Legion in Point Street at 10.30am for the War Memorial at 11am followed by a service in St Cedma’s Church of Ireland. The Glynn parade will gather at Glenvale Park at 2pm on the same day, before moving to the War Memorial. It will be followed by a service in St John’s Church of Ireland.

The Mayor will host a charity breakfast for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Fund in the Jubilee Hall, Carrickfergus Town Hall on November 11 from 8am-10am. Suggested donation is a minimum of £10.
