Remembrance Sunday

On Remembrance Sunday two special services will be held in Newbuildings Independent Methodist Church.

At 11.30am the Act of Remembrance will take place along with the singing of the National Anthem. Jonathan Campbell, Minister, will speak on the subject of the Belfast Blitz, this year being the 70th anniversary of that attack.

The Belfast Blitz occurred on the night of Easter Tuesday, April 15, 1941, during World War II, when 200 Luftwaffe bombers attacked the city and nearly 1,000 people died as a result of the bombing, with 1,500 injured. Half of the houses in Belfast were damaged or destroyed and outside of the city of London this was the greatest loss of life in a night raid during the Blitz.

At 7pm the subject will be persecuted Christians in today’s world. More than 100 million Christians face persecution around the world. Some are murdered, some are imprisoned, others are burned out of their homes. Violence against Christians is most severe in countries like Nigeria, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, China and Colombia.

Everyone is welcome at these special services. For more information visit www.sermonaudio.com/newbuildings
