Reminder for taxi firms

LOCAL taxi firms are currently being visited by Derry City Council officers who are reminding them of their responsibilities after the registered keeper of a taxi was successfully prosecuted for obstructing an enforcement officer.

Taxi drivers are not allowed to smoke in their vehicles under the Smoking (NI) Order 2006.

According to the report of the Chief Environmental Health Officer to Derry City Council’s Environmental Services Committee for October visits are currently taking place and “information sheets are being provided to display in taxi premises and also to distribute to each driver.”
