The update comes following a claim from a local resident that a dog waste bin in the Trooperslane area had not been emptied for over three weeks.

Responding, the local authority said: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council officers have investigated this matter and it would appear that the bin is one of our more recently installed bins which, in error, has not been added to our cleansing schedule.

“This matter has now been rectified. The bin has been emptied and included on the cleaning schedule for the area. The bin will now be emptied one or two times per week as are the other bins in that area.

“Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is committed to maintaining and enhancing our beautiful natural environment and welcomes information from the public to alert our staff to areas which require our attention.”
