Report of counterfeit notes

Police in Coleraine investigating the report of counterfeit money being passed in a supermarket in the Bannfield Road area on Friday 6 May have arrested three people relating to this and further offences.

Police received the report at approximately 10pm and attended the scene. From there a search was carried out on a van in the supermarket car park and a house in the St James Park area of Ballymoney. Further counterfeit money, counterfeit money making equipment and musical instruments and computers from a Ballymoney school and hospital were all found. Old copper piping was also located taken from a burglary in Coleraine.

A 16 year old male was charged with possession and tendering counterfeit money, criminal damage, handling stolen goods and theft.

A 22 year old man is charged with making a false instrument, suspicion of being involved in the production of counterfeit money, possession of counterfeit money, criminal damage, handling stolen goods, theft and burglary, permitting no MOT and permitting no insurance

A 45 year old female will be reported for driving with no insurance.

All three are from the Ballymoney area. The two males appeared in Coleraine Magistrates Court on the morning of Monday 9 May. The 22 years old male was remanded in custody and the younger male was given bail to return on the 6th June.
