Request for access at Larne Promenade

Larne Borough Council has received a request for permanent access to the rear of premises across council-owned lands at the Promenade.

At a recent meeting of the policy and resources committee at Smiley Buildings, it was recommended that the local authority should seek the opinion of the District Valuer as to any financial benefit the council may acquire in granting this request.

Cllr Bobby McKee proposed that council officers be permitted, without commitment, to ask the District Valuer to provide two valuations regarding access at the Promenade – one for a single dwelling and the other for a developed site.

But Cllr Brian Dunn put forward a counter-proposal that the council should proceed no further with the request.

In the end, 11 members voted in favour of Cllr McKee’s proposal and it was resolved by council.
