Request to move barrels

TUBS of flowers will be retained in Bushmills after being moved away from the area of the town's War Memorial.

Moyle Council was contacted by the Royal British Legion who said they would prefer not to have floral displays in whiskey barrels at the War Memorial.

The branch told the Council they felt that after a while the barrels leave a “rusty” stain in the stone.

DUP councillor Robert McIlroy asked if the barrels could be used elsewhere in Bushmills and Council officer Aidan McPeake said that is the case.

The Council agreed to tidy up the area around the War Memorial ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
