Residents air frustrations on housing issues
Housing Executive tenants attended a public meeting recently to discuss concerns about what they described as “sub-standard” public housing in Larne’s Wellington Green estate .
Issues discussed during the meeting, organised by the Factory Community Forum, included structural issues with the properties through to inadequate heating such as coal fires, dampness, poor lighting at rear of some houses, general appearance and upkeep and poor response times for repairs.
Community development worker Gareth McConnell said: “The housing is amongst the worst in the town and those renting public housing deserve much better. I would ask the Housing Executive to develop a comprehensive plan to address these concerns.”
