'Residents are being plagued by gangs intent on causing trouble'

A GLENGORMLEY councillor has claimed that residents of Hillview Park are being plagued by rival gangs of teens who are meeting up in the quiet residential area "to do battle".

Over the past few years, residents of Carnmoney Road, Glebecoole, Church Road, Glebe Road West and other parts of Glengormley have been suffering at the hands of anti-social youths who have been organising sectarian confrontations. Now, according to alderman Nigel Hamilton, householders in Hillview are experiencing similar problems.

The DUP man claimed that one concerned resident had described Hillview Park to him as "the new Glebecoole".

"Clearly there is an anxiety and a high level of concern that as the PSNI move the troublemakers from one area they form up in another. These marauding gangs are like wolf packs forming up where they are unseen and intent on causing damage and anti-social behaviour," he commented.
