Residents concerned about new surface on Saintfield Road

THE Roads Service have confirmed they are monitoring the Saintfield Road in Lisburn following complaints from local residents.

The Saintfield Road, one of the main roads into the city, was recently resurfaced and residents are concerned that the new surface is now so smooth it is resulting in accidents on the busy thoroughfare.

One resident contacted the Star to say she had witnessed three accidents on the road in recent days and had herself felt her car slipping on the smooth surface.

“They have made a real mess of the road,” she said.

A spokesperson for Roads Service confirmed they were aware of the concerns about the road. “Roads Service is aware that concerns have been raised and are monitoring the situation,” she said.
