Residents demand action on eyesore

Rosemary Fitzpatrick said the state of the grass and weeds at Bell’s Row Court has got “beyond a joke” and someone needs to cut it as soon as possible.

As the ‘MAIL’ understands it, the management company responsible for the maintenance of Bell’s Row Court including such tasks as grass cutting, has gone into administration. It has led to issues with the sale of properties in the development given that prospective buyers are faced with knee-high underground upon entry to the development.

Rosemary said: “The grass and weeds are out of control. We’ve tried the council, the Housing Executive and the DOE - everyone we can think of - but no one is taking responsibility for this bit of land.

“As well as the overgrown area the fence is broken. It’s supposed to be a shared area for everyone here. How are kids supposed to play there?”

Bell’s Row Court is a relatively new development with a mixture of rent-paying residents and homeowners.

Rosemary said the overgrown area is a big talking point among residents who demand action on the eyesore.

Having conducted some research the ‘MAIL’ understands that because this is a privately owned development the upkeep does not fall under the remit of any executive bodies.

Unfortunately for residents it could be a case where, in the absence of a management company, they have to form their own body or organise a rota to tend to the shared space themselves.
