Residents help with record recycling day

Local householders have been praised for contributing to Bryson Recycling’s busiest day ever recorded at it Mallusk site.

With over 450 tonnes of materials coming in for recycling on January 8, it was more than three times the normal daily amount.

Eric Randall, managing director of Bryson Recycling, said: “Most households generate 30% more waste over the festive period, and it is great to see that people in Carrickfergus have recycled as much of this as possible using their kerbside recycling boxes.

“We are committed to recycling this material locally and currently 80% of what we sort is sold onto companies across these islands supporting the local economy.

“Also the more people recycle the more good we can do across the Bryson Group from supporting older people to remain in their own home to building confidence in young people through water sports.”
