Residents to be briefed onupcoming MTV concerts

Limavady Road residents are invited to attend a series of briefings over coming days about the forthcoming MTV Crashes concerts at Ebrington.

Meetings will take place at St Columb’s Park House on Thursday, Friday and Monday.

It’s been revealed 55 per cent of tickets went to Londonderry music fans. But one local resident, who asked not to be named, contacted the paper claiming no-one from the immediate area managed to secure a ticket.

“Not one of the kids from the area, that I’m aware of, got any tickets,” the resident said. “They were queueing down at Foyle Street from four in the morning and trying online.”

“Everyone supports these events and put up with the parking and so on, but it’s frustrating when we’re told 10,000 tickets are being set aside for people from the city,” he said.

A Derry City Council spokesperson said: “The Council understands that there are a lot of disappointed music fans who were unlucky in their attempt to secure tickets for the events.”

The tickets sold out in just 40 seconds setting a new record in MTV Crashes ticket sales.

“When planning the ticket distribution for the MTV events, every effort was made to ensure ticket allocation process was transparent and fair.

“The ticket breakdown was as follows: 55 per cent BT48 and BT47 residents, while 30 per cent of tickets were available to the rest of Northern Ireland and 15 per cent outside of Northern Ireland,” the spokesperson said.

The briefings will take place on Thursday (7.30pm to 8.30pm), Friday, September 5 (1pm to 2pm), and Monday, September 8 (6.30pm to 7.30pm).
