Restraining order following damage to home in estate

Stephen Anthony Mallon, whose address was given as Ardowen, Craigavon, admitted unlawful damage to a front door, a Sky 
TV cable and a gas cylinder on January 25 this 
year.

He was fined £400 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and £110 compensation for the damage he caused.

The case had been listed as a contest but Mallon pleaded guilty when three other charges were withdrawn.

The court heard that the defendant and the injured party knew each other and lived on the same 
estate.

Earlier in the day the victim had complained to the defendant about having his dog in a pub.

With too much alcohol taken Mallon called at the injured party’s property and removed a gas cylinder from the side of the house.

He also took out a Sky TV cable and damaged the front door.

The injured party and his brother had asked for a restraining order in respect of Mallon.

A barrister for the defendant said this was a one-off incident and there had been nothing between the parties since then.

There was full compensation in court for the damage, the barrister said.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, granted a restraining order against the defendant for a period of two years.
