A two year restraining order was also imposed preventing the defendant from pestering, harassing or intimidating the injured party.

The court heard that the injured party, the defendant’s former partner, reported to police that he had sent her text messages.

She felt the messages were pestering her. The defendant was arrested on December 27.

He said he had been drinking and may well have contacted her but could not remember.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said there was nothing of a sinister nature in the messages.

He added that Doran now accepted the relationship between him and his former partner had ended.
