Restraining order is imposed on man for assaulting female

A restraining for two years was imposed on a Lurgan man last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Twenty eight year old Craig Steele, of Greenhill Park, Lurgan, was also sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, for assault occasioning actual bodily marm on July 21.

As well he was ordered to pay £400 compensation to the injured party.

The court heard the victim received an injury to her head.

A barrister for Steele said he had a short record which contained nothing related to violence.

She explained that the injured party had told him she had been having another relationship. There was no reason for them to have any contact.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said it was a nasty injury. He imposed the order saying Steele should haven no contact with the injured party.
