Resurgam Trust hosts Women’s Health Fair

The Resurgam Trust recently hosted a Women’s Health Fair in the Laganview Enterprise Centre.

Despite the stormy weather 28 different services or organisations exhibited at the event providing information and advice on topics ranging from home and community safety to counselling and cancer prevention.

The event was sponsored by Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership project and therefore two local Pharmacies (Boots and Knockmore Pharmacy) provided free health checks to a large number of women on the night.

The health checks highlighted issues such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels.

These are issues which require intervention or referral to a GP with women being given much needed advice on these issues on the night.

Women were also given the opportunity to access free Indian head or foot massage provide by students at SERC. The massage proved hugely popular.

A spokesperson for Resurgam Trust said: “Feedback from the event has been very positive with women reporting that they enjoyed the night and received useful information. Over 80 women attended the event.
