The Revd Harron, who has been rector of the Parish of Magheralin and Dollingstown for over a decade, will be taking up a new role in the Diocese of Down in October.

In a message to his congregation in Magheralin Parish Church, he said, “After much prayer, we feel God has brought us to this big step and a call to a new adventure in ministry. Please pray for us in the coming months. I hope and plan to remain fully engaged with the ministry here until we move on. Please pray, too, for the Parish of Holywood, their parishioners and staff team as preparations get under way. Thank you for your fellowship, love and prayers. We reciprocate them all - but it’s not time for goodbyes just yet.”

The Revd Harron and his family have not yet set a date for their move to Down.

DUP Councillor Carla Lockhart paid tribute to the Rev, noting the impact he has had on the area: “It has been an honour and a privilege to get to know the Rev and his family during his tenure here. I have always found him to be a man who cared about his parishioners, someone who preached the gospel, and believed firmly in the community in which he ministered.

“I would personally like to wish the Rev Harron, his wife Ruth, kids Annabelle, Olivia and Isaac, God’s richest blessings in the weeks, months and years that lie ahead. He will be sadly missed in the local area, but God will use him in this new area of work.”
