The Rev McCrea had been ordained to the gospel ministry on Thursday, March 26. This service was held in his home congregation, Magherafelt Free Presbyterian Church.

Rev Stephen McCrea is the son of the Rev William McCrea. This is Rev McCrea’s first charge.

Rev John Woods, interim moderator of the congregation during the vacancy, led the opening part of the welcome service.

David Neil, one of the elders in the congregation, welcomed Rev and Mrs McCrea and their family and introduced those who made presentations to the new minister, his wife and family and to the interim moderator and his wife. The Rev McCrea then took charge of the rest of the service. Sharon Johnston, a sister of Rev McCrea, was the soloist on the occasion and Rev McCrea preached from Joshua chapter 2.

A large congregation had gathered for this meeting and afterwards supper was served.

A warm welcome awaits anyone who wishes to attend the meetings of the congregation.
