Review of Millbrook bus service underway

Translink is examining bus services to the Millbrook estate after meeting with residents and political representatives on February 25

Residents told the company’s representative John Morgan of their concerns after the Busy Bus service was slashed to one journey per day. Concerns were also expressed over schoolchildren’s safety, as residents say they must cross busy roads as the school bus does not stop outside schools.

Millbrook Community Association Chair Ald Gregg McKeen said the meeting was “very positive” and Mr Morgan would report back in two to three weeks.

A Transport NI spokeswoman said part of the Ulsterbus town service route through Millbrook was “currently being omitted due to parked cars preventing the bus from passing safely.”

“We are engaging with residents and local representatives to raise awareness of the impact parked cars are having on bus routes and would encourage motorists to park elsewhere to ensure clear passage for the bus,” she added. “There are currently no plans to extend local bus services to Larne and Inver Primary school as there is no available drop off point in a safe location.”
