Revitalisation programme for Randalstown

Visitors and locals alike are being encouraged to shop and explore Randalstown, as part of a new initiative to promote the picturesque town.

The initiative is being delivered by Antrim Borough Council, working with local businesses and representatives through a Project Steering Group, and is funded by the Department for Social Development Revitalisation Programme.

On Saturday, March 21, Randalstown will celebrate the very best of what the town has to offer.

A host of family entertainment will take place between 11am and 3pm at Moore’s Lane, including a ‘Game of Thrones’ inspired treasure hunt, stilt walkers, balloon modellers and face painters; and local traders will be serving up a delicious hog roast alongside many great offers and surprises in store.

The U105 ‘U Crew’ and promotional staff will also be on hand to distribute Randalstown ‘shop and explore’ reusable shopping bags and other goodies.

Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Brian Graham, said: “Randalstown is a bustling town set within a spectacular landscape and the key to seeing and experiencing all that’s on offer is to take your time to shop and explore.

“You’ll find unique independent shops, offering something a little different from other high streets.

“After your shopping, enjoy a bite to eat in one of the cafes or restaurants then take a stroll around the historic town or explore its many visitor attractions, including Randalstown Forest nearby.”

Councillor Graham added: “Undoubtedly one of the most welcoming towns in Northern Ireland, those who live and work in Randalstown are dedicated to ensuring that visitors and locals alike enjoy a pleasant environment and experience in the town.

“This was recently recognised when Randalstown was awarded Best Small Town in the Ulster in Bloom competition.”
