Ringsend Challenge was wheelie something

The Hospice provides support, respite and specialist care for children and young people with complex needs. It allows the children and their families to make the most of their lives, within the limits of their illness.

And yet Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice receives only the bare minimum of financial support from government. Nearly all its running costs are covered by charity donations.

That’s why this year’s fourth annual Ringsend cycle challenge chose the Hospice as its charity of choice.

The Ringside Challenge is a sponsored 35 or 50 mile cycle ride through the leafy countryside around the north coast. This year’s event attracted 270 riders and has so far raised over £18,000 for the Hospice.

“There was also an auction in Hecklers bar in the evening,” says Seamus O’Connell, owner of AutoCare network member O’Connells Garage Ltd of Garvagh and one of the organisers of the event.

“It is a really worthwhile cause and this year’s event was run in honour of a very special little boy who used the Hospice. Every penny raised and every penny we continue to raise will go direct to the charity.”

The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice states: “At Hospice we rely on your generosity to keep our services running every day in 2016 and every donation, large or small, makes a difference.”
