On Friday night at Knockramer Park the Beckett Cup final was contested between Celtic Club Lurgan Number One Club and Rectory Rangers from Portadown.

Prior to the game, which was won by Celtic, both clubs came together to promote Down’s & Proud, a charity started up by the Beatty family from Lurgan.

Jay Beatty, the face of the charity, led out his beloved Celtic team and his family was overwhelmed at the fierce rivals show of unity before the game.

Martin said: “Prior to the game both clubs had agreed to help promote Down’s & Proud by walking onto the pitch with a banner promoting the charity in a show of unity and respect for these very special children.

“The Beatty family would like to thank both clubs for their kindness shown to Jay and for helping to promote the charity on the night.”
