Riverdale Principal encourages others to abseil for The Cedar Foundation

FOLLOWING the success of last year’s abseil at the Premier Inn, Alfred Street Belfast, The Cedar Foundation is once again looking for brave volunteers to take part in this year’s fundraising event due to take place on Saturday June.

Last year forty people from across Northern Ireland abseiled down the back of the Premier Inn into an enclosed courtyard, whilst being cheered on by their family and friends.

Over £6,000 was raised to support Cedar’s work with local children and adults with disabilities and many people came in fancy dress which added to the fun of the day.

Trevor Carruthers, Principal of Riverdale Primary School alongside a team of staff from the school took part in the abseil last year.

Trevor said: “The abseil was a great experience, the whole Riverdale team had a blast. Our school have been a long-time supporter of The Cedar Foundation and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage people to support this worthwhile charity and give the abseil a go.”

Christine Tweedie, Fundraising Co-ordinator for Cedar added: “If you’ve never done an abseil before, this is your chance. All we ask is that you pay a £20 deposit and raise at least £80 in sponsorship for our cause.

“If you’re interested, please do get in touch with us and we’ll provide you with a sponsorship form as well as fundraising hints and tips.”
