Riverside Retail Park is 'bucking the trend'

DESPITE the difficult retail market, the Riverside Retail Park is bucking the trend in attracting new tenants.

And, according to a letting agent for the site, Coleraine's out-of-town retail park is one of the 'strongest in the Province'.

Mark Thallon, a letting agent for the site, and a retail partner with property consultants tdk, revealed that another unit at the site has been let to a well-known Northern Ireland furniture retailer.

Starplan is set to open in one of the new outlets on Boxing Day, creating 10 much-needed jobs for the Coleraine area.

The confirmation comes on the back of the news that catalogue giant, Argos, is set to open a second Coleraine store later this year.

Mark told The Times: "We are delighted to secure Starplan at Riverside.

"We believe that coupled with the recent opening of B&M, we are bucking the trend in securing new tenants in what is a difficult retail market.

"There is no doubt that these occupiers have been attracted by the critical mass of other retailers at the site, making the Retail Park one of the strongest in Northern Ireland."

The property consultant added that his firm are hopeful of being able to reveal other new occupiers at the Retail Park over the coming months.

He also confirmed that a planning application for a restaurant/cafe pod on the former Lazer site had been lodged with planners.
