Riverside trail is officially launched in Glenavy

The official opening of Glenavy Riverside Trail took place on Saturday 8 November at the Glenaidan Centre, Glenavy.

A three year project funded by Lagan Rural Partnership (DARD) and Lisburn City Council, the Riverside Trail can be found behind the Glenaidan Centre in Glenavy village.

Three fishing stands will be erected in this area, two standard and one disabled fishing stand.

The Club hope that this new facility will encourage our local community young and old to use the public walkway, become involved in the sport of angling and support the Club conservation activities.

Three fishing stands, including a stand for the use of disabled anglers, are accessible via the Riverside Trail, making the picturesque Glenavy River accessible to the entire community.

Welcoming guests to the event, Tony McCormick, Chair of Glenavy Conservation & District Angling Club, introduced speakers Alderman Allan Ewart and Pam Cameron MLA, before outlining the steps taken to bring the Riverside Trail project to fruition.

Concluding the event, Mr McCormick invited guests to visit the new pathway and fishing stands.
