RNLI celebrates Lidl Community backing!

Local community group Portrush RNLI is among the 33 winning groups chosen by Lidl Northern Ireland to receive backing from the retailer as part of its Community Works campaign.

Portrush RNLI was selected as a winner from over 4,000 nominations and subsequently was visited by the Lidl Community Crew at the West Strand Beach in Portrush. The Crew helped facilitate a summer BBQ fundraiser which saw the group be awarded with a cheque from Lidl to help fund both crew training and education for young people; preparing them for all eventualities while spending time on the coast.

After the visit from the crew, Judy Nelson from Portrush RNLI said, “We are delighted to have been selected as a winning group as we are very much a national charity but have very close links to our local community. All our crew, fundraisers and educators are local people and this help from Lidl reflects our community ethos and the support we as a charity get from the local community”.
