RNLI duck derby

THE Larne lifeboat's fundraising branch will hold its popular duck derby on Saturday, July 24.

The fundraiser starts at Noon at the Station Road/Glynn Road bridge over the Inver River, where hundreds of plastic ducks will be entered in the race.

The ducks will be netted downstream by members of the lifeboat crew. Each duck is numbered and the first dozen or so to arrive will win prizes - donated by a number of local businesses - for their owners.

Anyone who would like to support the local lifeboats can pick one of the ducks up from branch members in Murrayfield Arcade on Thursday, July 14 (today), Friday, July 15, Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23.

I’m always glad to promote RNLI fundraisers. Out here at The Maidens, who knows when I might need them.
