RNLI lifeguards to provide Easter cover on the north coast

RNLI lifeguards are to provide Easter cover for the first time on three of the most popular family beaches on the north coast.

For the third year running, lifeguards will be ready to offer safety advice and assistance on Benone Strand but in addition this Easter, they will also be patrolling Portstewart Strand, Portrush East Strand and Whiterocks beach, all of which are located along the Causeway Coast.

The cover commences on Good Friday, 29 March and will run throughout Easter week until Sunday, 7 April.

Despite the unseasonal weather, the charity’s highly trained lifeguards will be ready to assist visitors who brave the elements and take a trip to the seaside over the Easter break.

The lifeguards will operate on Benone, Portstewart, East Strand and Whiterocks from 11am to 7pm.

Mike Grocott, RNLI Regional Lifeguard Manager, said: “The RNLI is delighted to be returning for its third season on Northern Irish beaches – starting with five beaches this Easter.

“We will be on Portstewart Strand, Portrush East Strand and Whiterocks beach for the first time this year which is a direct response to the footfall activity on those beaches in recent years.”
