Road ban for 'job interview' man

AN unemployed Bendooragh man told North Antrim Magistrates Court on Friday he "panicked" when he missed a bus to a job interview and took a car instead and in the process was detected committing a number of offences.

Gary McKelvey (18), of Willowdale, had the offences detected on March 20 this year at Ballywillan Road, Portrush.

He was banned from driving for six months and fined a total of 450 for absence of insurance and MOT; no L plates; no supervising driver and failing to produce his driving licence to police.

When cautioned by police about the insurance offence, the defendant said: “I’m an idiot”.

He told the court he didn’t get the job.
