Road closure for pipe laying

A road closure is to take place outside Lisburn later this month to facilitate the construction of a new telemetry station.

NI Water has been undertaking work in the Church Road area near Lisburn as part of its Castor Bay to Belfast Water Trunk Main Scheme, a £14m investment to safeguard water quality and improve the security of supply for customers.

The contract has involved the construction of a new pumping station beside Temple Golf Club and the laying of a new pipeline along Church Road.

Recent work carried out by NI Water’s contractor, Lagan Construction Group, involved a number of large connections on the pipeline.

In order to complete all final connections and facilitate the construction of a new telemetry station on Church Road, which will remotely monitor the new pipeline, a road closure will be required.

In agreement with Transport NI, Church Road and Creevy Road will be closed to through traffic from its junction with the A24 Carryduff Road to its junction with the Comber Road from Thursday August 13 to Friday September 4.

The section of Church Road affected by the work lies between the Lough Road junction and the entrance to St. Andrew’s Pumping Station, beside Temple Golf Club.
