Road markings to be installed along '˜rural' A2 section

Transport NI is to provide new 'markings' along the rural section of the upgraded A2 Shore Road.

The update was given in response to a question from Carrick councillor Andrew Wilson, who suggested that the new rural section of A2 was “very dark” and requested if lighting or markers could be provided.

The issue had previously been raised by his UUP colleague, Roy Beggs MLA, who said constituents were “concerned” about the lack of lighting or edge marking on the section between Greenisland and Seapark.

In a written response, Transport NI said: “Street lighting is not provided as the road is considered to be rural in nature. Edge of carriageway road markings and road studs will be added to improve delineation.”
