Road safety measures to be introduced in Carnmoney

A number of new safety measures are to be introduced on the road and footpath outside Carnmoney Primary School.

A Department for Regional Development spokeswoman said: “TransportNI hope to implement a number of safety measures outside Carnmoney Primary School next month. The work will include the installation of a number of bollards on the footway opposite the school to prevent parents parking on the footway and a new section of pedestrian guard railing on the school side to provide a safer area for the children to cross Carnmoney Road.”

The announcement has been welcomed by South Antrim DUP MLA Pam Cameron, who has been campaigning on the issue for a number of months. She said: “I’m delighted that TransportNI have confirmed that they are hoping to begin the works within the next few weeks and I look forward to this bringing a greater road safety to the area.”
