Road widening scheme in Islandmagee

Motorists have been urged to take account of road works on the B90 Browns Bay Road when planning journeys.

The contract entails realignment of the existing B90 Brown’s Bay Road to improve sight lines at its junction with Ballytober Road, carriageway reconstruction, drainage works and fencing.

Roads Minister Danny Kennedy explained: “This scheme at the junction of Brown’s Bay Road with Ballytober Road and Hollow Road, known locally as Four Corners, will see the realignment and widening of the B70 Brown’s Bay Road to provide sightlines at the junction with Ballytober Road. This scheme will enhance safety for traffic using the junction by improving visibility for all road users.”

The work should be completed in early February 2014, however planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and the public will be kept informed of any change.

Motorists are advised that despite careful planning by Roads Service, some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
