Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend, has welcomed the news saying: ““The news that resurfacing is to take place on North Street, Stewartstown is very welcome, particularly for those who live and travel on that road daily. North Street has been in particularly bad shape for some time now, with large portions of rough carriageway. However, this resurfacing will rectify this.

“There will also be drainage works completed at the site, ensuring that water is allowed to run off the road more quickly in bad weather. This will be particularly welcomed by the owners of the houses which are located at the roads edge, which can be affected badly during these wet spells.”

Mrs Overend continued, “The road works will be carried out from North Street and run towards Castlefarm Road, in Stewartstown. They will commence on 19 January, and will run for two weeks. Please be aware of diversions on the road during the work, with North Road closed for through traffic from Castlefarm to West Street; traffic coming onto Coagh Road at any junction from Coagh will be diverted through Cookstown; and traffic from the south will have the option of taking the Loughshore Road or proceed through Cookstown.”
