Sinn Fin Councillor for the Waterside Lynn Fleming had called on DRD Roads Service to repair the section of road surface at the top of Chapel Road as a matter of urgency.

She said she had received complaints from motorists and local residents that the road was in a very dangerous state.

She said: "I would urge DRD Road Service to repair this section of road as a matter of urgency. Chapel Road is a very busy main arterial route into the Top of the Hill area.

"This large indentation in the roadway is causing problems for motorists.

"It's a very narrow road and local residents fear drivers trying to avoid this section of roadway could hit cars parked at the side of the road.

"It also creates problems for pedestrians crossing the road, particularly during the hours of darkness "
